Torture Inside Your Mind Poem by Paige Parker

Torture Inside Your Mind

Have you ever felt torture?
Can you imagine how it would feel inside your head?
Where the only physical pain
was the stinging of tears on your cheeks
and the burning from your eyes.

Inside your head,
you can't stop the torture.
You can't do anything but suffer
and there's nothing you can do.

The things they called me.
The looks they gave me.
The way they laughed at me.
The way they tore me down.
How they destroyed my life,
day by day.

All those words
running through my head.
constantly, never stopping.
The only breaks I got
was when I cried myself to sleep each night.

Your words,
can ruin someone's life forever.
affecting them every second
of every day
and changing who they are,
just because you wanted friends,
or to cover your own insecurities.
