Toothless Ghost Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Toothless Ghost

The Toothless Ghost

The toothless ghost
it roamed about
in the nocturnal cemetery.

Aloud
its maws it rattled
roamed in the area of
its grave
from grave to grave
disconsolate.

Ah! do we carry
with us
the restlessness of breath
when
we have it not?

is restlessness so pervasive
that it survives
such transformations?

Are the dark shadows of night
so tempting to a Soul of Restlessness?
Speak,
high heavens above immense.
Speak.
