Too Many People Have Already Died Poem by Shalom Freedman

Too Many People Have Already Died

TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY DIED

Too many people have already died
My parents my brother
All my uncles and aunts
My best friend in my adult years
My best friend in childhood
A friend so full of life I never thought he could die
Another friend always promising to do the thing next year
That he never got to
A much loved teacher
Many others.

Too many people have already died
And too many people I know are very sick
I do not know what to make of it all
Sometimes I get angry
Sometimes I just think about it and start to cry
So many have already died
And life is so much sadder without them.
