Tonight My Thoughts Are With You Poem by chris schwartz

Tonight My Thoughts Are With You

Rating: 5.0

Your clock ticks to the future
And the hands on my clock
Tick to goodbye.
I can't really comprehend
Why time didn't put us
Together
Long ago,
When minutes didn't matter.
But as I sit here dreaming,
Watching the hours, the days,
The years…go by,
You my dear John,
You were worth the wait.
Even if only,
The short love we had
Sped fast so quickly
Like the sunset we captured
In La Crosse.
I hate that photo,
And I love it too.
For the first time,
I saw the warning
Of how something
So beautiful and untamed
Can fall
To What is unimagined
And unpredictable
In the scope
Of our too short
Existence.
Breathe easy,
Each day,
For I will always love you
I just couldn't keep up
With the pointed hands
On the clock
That I watched
For so long.
Our chapter
In this book
Can never be erased
Like Romeo and Juliet
Bodies die,
But love still lives
For those,
Who are still searching
To believe.
