Tomorrow Poem by Wendy Moravec

Tomorrow

You come to me at night
Weaving your magic in the air.
Attempting to gain my favor
You become what I dream of each night.
I feel the sway of your words
Indecision clawing my guts
But I break free of your trance
Seeing the light of the Man’s plan.
Rape thine own mind!
For mine will remain virgin.
Your heart beats not
But shatters to the touch.
Pieces slice into your chest
Spilling your blood, soaking the ground
I kneel in it’s puddle
Picking up the jagged pieces.
Crawling through the filth of blood,
I kneel before the darkened sky,
Offering your pieces to the Man.
Knowing and feeling He was proud of me.
I turn back towards my manger, my safe haven – my bed.
Trudging through the evil only I can see,
I crawl into the crisp, white sheets.
My head falls to the pillow,
My energy gone.
I had won,
But I knew as He did,
The battle would begin again.
Tomorrow.
