Todeskämpfe Poem by Victor Geld

Todeskämpfe

They say that these are labour pains,
And tomorrow the people will arise.
But all I see is a trail of blood and tears_
We have been working hard in the wrong place,
Dreaming of the day when we will know true justice.

What if the pain we bear
Was not for the birth of a new day,
But for the death of an old one?
The death of our hopes and dreams,
What if this is a pipe dream?
What if we are carrying the cross on which
We will be crucified?
Our hope shall be the death of us all.

They say that these are labour pains,
But what if they're simply the death throes
Of a world that never was,
And never will be?
A blood-soaked road to nowhere,
Where we will die as slaves...
