Today Was That Day Poem by Marla Smith

Today Was That Day

My heart beats one last time ~~ When I hear what you have to say to me ~~ This is the moment I’ve been waiting for my whole entire life ~~ Then my heart beats a rhythm I don’t know ~~ But now I can say the things I’ve been holding back from you ~~ I look at today ~~ And see how much we have both changed ~~ We support each other no matter what ~~ When were together all the problems in our life fade away ~~ We seek shelter in each others arms ~~ Because of all the pain ~~ But now that your gone ~~ Sailing away on that ship ~~ It is harder to make it through the days ~~Knowing your so far away ~~ I just wish that the boat that is sailing away ~~ Would come back ~~ Knowing that day is coming soon ~~ Wishing to hear the water roar as the boat came back ~~ Or to see the plane land ~~ All I do is wish ~~ That today was that day.
