Today I Became Your Grandmother Poem by Sonia Walker

Today I Became Your Grandmother

Rating: 5.0

Today I became your grandmother,
I hold you in my arms,
you are my sweet bundle of charms,
the old maple rocking chair rocks slowly,
to the beat of you precious heart,
we are in unison and will not part.

You coo to me as I hum a song,
your blue eyes are shut but not for long,
cuddling you is a gift from above,
feeling you wiggle is what I love,
a tiny hand clasps my finger,
I only want this moment to linger.

Everything about you is so new,
like spring flowers covered with dew,
a beautiful cherub face looks at me,
smiling I stare back in wonder to see
a child so perfect in many ways
who I will enjoy for a lifetime of days.

Today I became your grandmother
and know we are bonded to one another,
miles might separate us and time will go by,
no matter what the reason we will try
to be together so we can feel the love
which is shared as a blessing from above.
