To The Silent Lover Waiting Inside Poem by Dennis Ryan

To The Silent Lover Waiting Inside

July 22,2008

- written after speaking with my wife late at night, then watching her sleep

How to explain one's volubility
to the silent lover waiting inside?
You can't; you don't; you don't even try.
You just listen to her breathing as she sleeps.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The speaker of the poem, a poet, notes the fact that the lover who waits inside of you complements the real person you love, lying in bed right beside you.Though usually voluable, the poet is "lost for words" to explain things on this occasion.
