you wrote,
i choose to be different,
i make this day different.

subsumed perhaps is the
idea that being different
is joy by itself.
and that to decide to
see the difference is
an art,
a pleasure.

all days are similar
in length and even shapes and colors
and scents.

a day with the sun
a company with the winds
a dip in the sea,
a trek on the mountain trails,


even in the crowd of people
in those city streets and parks
and restaurants,

there is still this commonness
this similarity of
being alone,
alone in the crowd,
alone in the sea,
alone in that cruise,
alone with yourself,
despite, in-spite of what
we are in,

for we are always a self, within this self,
an enclosure
wanting to open and to scatter
but which, in this state of affairs,
still cannot be done

the sun with all its planets
is still a distant star, alone in the universe
to the eyes of this
little boy.
