To The Beat Of Pirate Drums

Rating: 5.0

To the beat of pirate drums
(Imagine the drums in your head as you are reading this)

To the beat of pirate drums,
Sacred paths and hidden treasures,
Aboard this magnificent vessel,
Runs through the waves,
And crashes back down,
Ad vast matties,
Its time to walk the plank,
The sails fill with the wind,
And off we go.
At the helm I stand proud,
By the wheel,
Looking up on into the horizon,
High up in the birds nest,
And to down below in the crew’s cabin,
To the guns, pistols and swords piled high.
A wooden chest that holds all of the gold,
The parrot sits high on the captain’s shoulder,
While the monkey swings on by.
Port to sarbert, and back again,
And weigh anchor,
Pirates’ line up for roll call,
As cabin fever hits them hard,
Eye patch for the captain and his wooden leg.
While Jack Sparrow head’s for the rum once again! ! !
Skull and bones are on my flag,
And we follow the map,
To where X marks the spot!
The cannon’s are ready,
With cannon balls in them,
That can hurt yours! !
There are always skeletons in their closet! !
The cabin crew all laid out in their bunkers and hammocks,
While the captain sleeps,
Cosy and warm in his cabin.
Man the boats,
And paddle to shore,
Bring back treasure and more,
Among the Jolly Rodger,
We sing and get merry,
Till we fall asleep,
As we have the goods and plenty more,
Too much is here,
Too much is on board,
We are sinking………………
Its time to go down,
Or it might be time to abandon ship! ! ! !

You certainly captured the life of a pirate quite well in this adventureous poem. It was well written with a great flow to it too. I also wrote a poem about pirates called 'Ode to a Pirate's Life'. Enjoy! Spiritsong
