To Spite Your Face Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

To Spite Your Face

so wait-
don't you have
what you want?
i'm not making your choices.
now i am gone.

but i can keep a secret
or a few;
you had bet on the fact
that i was not like you.

well, i say it's your fault.
you were the one
who thought you loved me,
you were the one
who couldn't get enough of me.

if you won't,
i will.
and if you don't,
i'll still.

you are the one
who never gets my love.
you are the one
now never enough.

and too many people are fickle,
content to love a dream.
and you're so f.cking special
as long as they all leave.

i saw that smirk,
i saw that satisfaction,
i know you thought
you were cause and reaction.

so try to hurt me now,
cos in your rush you forgot
that i let it go because
i know that’s all you've got.
