To Lawrence Ferlinghetti Poem by Chance Foreman

To Lawrence Ferlinghetti

Have you ever
Had a word explode into your mind
And make you high and blissfully drunk
And left you in some unexplainable way
With the ability to fly
Time stops
Conscious and unconscious fade away
The revolutionary wakes
To find truth dancing on his tongue
Poetic justice
Can open doors that were thought locked forever
And suddenly the key flashes before you
And stabs you in the heart
I feel as I read that each letter
Glows with light and drips with dew
That sparkles with imagination
From a small child’s eyes
As I read, the words
Sing in harmony with my soul
And gently guide my on journeys of
Of giddy insanity
Where only the truly free
Linger with out guilt
In alleyways
And diamond ashtrays
Where jellybean jollies jostle
For the foolish foothold of fame
Where the impossible is possible
And the ugly is beautiful
Where I see you
Lawrence Ferlinghetti
The Zen fool heroic poet
Dancing to the splendor
Of eternity
