To Hell Or Barbados Poem by Paul Francis

To Hell Or Barbados

Rating: 5.0

Wither goest thou, Jim?
Wither goest thou in the pale September light?
Leaves burnished by the Indian sun
Fall in time with your flagstoned steps.

Wither goest thou?
To hell or Barbados, Jim!
It is in your blood to be displaced
And find your self anew in a foreign place
Redlegged beneath starless skies.

May Vulturnus and Venus be your guides.

Goest, Jim!
Goest thou into the pale September light!
Should you find your ruin there so be it.
But don't let your ruin find you here
Naked in the streetlight night.

It would be my ruin too.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

P.S....Awesome title, which is what initially drew me to this fine work...Titles are EVERYTHING...as when you are looking at dozens & dozens of titles to open and read...It has to be something that catches your minds eye, and speaks to you...Hey, open me...my poem is even better than my title...Unfortunately, as I see it on this site, most people don't give enough thought to an eye catching title...~fJR~

Much poetic verve fuels this pen-gem including its mild smack of Shakespearian tongue...An interesting storyline brings it all home...Solid crafting ~FjR`
