~ To Glenda
You are my darling,
My gift from above.
You are my angel,
My message of love.
And I'll always be thankful
To God up on high,
That He has honored
One lowly as I
To care for a dear part
Of His great domain,
To love and to cherish,
And even to name.
And as I teach you
Your first little prayer
Said at a mommy's knee,
Then as I teach you
Your first little steps
Faltering though they be,
I know God didn't just say:
Let there be a child,
But He fashioned each precious part
With the greatest of care
And a tender smile,
Then placed in a mother's heart
All the love that went into
This most pleasant of tasks
Then rested, contented, at last.

This poem speaks with clarity and sincerity for itself. The only comment needed is: I LOVED IT, almost brought tears to my eyes. And it made me realize why I wanted to be a parent and when I was, why I treasured those early years with my son. This poem is an act of grace, it blesses us who read it with the most precious memories..
