I watch over
your sleeping

your dreams
flutter behind your eyes

trying to translate
what you are feeling

as now you frown
& now

the cutest smile
curls up on the left

side of your mouth
& slowly

gently gently
glides to the right

behind closed eyes
you looking rapidly

back & forth
back & forth

laugh out loud.

How I wish
I could be

there
with you

my sleeping
dreaming child.
