Tears slide down my red checks
I just ran at the best meet I could ever attend
But you don't care
You haven't for a full year
You dismiss me like I'm nothing
Like my time means nothing to you
You used to rally around me
You even called me "the next star"
But that doesn't mean anything to you anymore
Doesn't mean anything to me now
Oh what fool I was
Thinking I could rise up on top
But you ruined it for me
Ruined my confidence
Ruined what I loved doing best
For months I waited patiently for you to cheer me on
But no sound came out of your mouth
All you gave me was pressure
Pressure of coming in third
Pressure of PRing
My god I'm only a freshman
I tried so hard to give you what you wanted
Nothing was ever good enough for you
You stabbed me in the back
This time was the last straw for me
You didn't call my name
Not once
I sat awkwardly on the grass
The grass felt heavy and hard
Because that's how I felt
I wondered what to do
But you made it clear how much you didn't care
