Till Number One Poem by josette rice

Till Number One

Till Number 1 Closing
As I walked along the aisles
Inspecting and dropping items in my pull along basket trolley
There was a certain quietness about the store today
I wondered if I will have a till closed on me just as I am about to put
my shopping on the conveyor
I walked towards Till Number One and yes there goes the sexy warm dulcet tones on the loud speaker
"Till number One is closing. please move to another available till
I dragged my basket pull along trolley and looked at the cashier whom to my surprise beckoned to me to come to his till
Ooh I thanked him profusely and explained I could not believe
This was going to happen to me again, no lie I say, every time I come here the woman on the loud speaker must be spying on me because the till always gets shut down on me
I took another look at the cashier, sometimes cashiers seem to shapeshift into their kiosks and we don't notice them at all cos we are checking our debit card balance in our head or wondering if the bags will hold the shopping
All kind of things going on in our head.
I took another look and what did I see
The most handsome face ever
He looked like he was swept away from the Maasai plains and placed at Till Number One for me to gaze at
His skin was the darkest hue
His locs piled high on his head
His teeth whiter than Simon Cowell's
The most handsome face ever
I thanked him again and he explained he was closing to have lunch
So I asked him what he was going to eat and he replied
FA LA FEL
OH I said " I LOVE THEM! but they don't love me as they make me belch and tings...He chuckled and asked "and other things? I said yes feeling a little embarrassed now but we both laughed and exchanged names.
his name was Richie. I told him my name and he said it was a beautiful name.. I wanted to stay and talk to him more this handsome face at Till Number One
As I sat in the car I mused on the meeting of Richie and fantasied having his locs strewn across my pillow amidst my best white duvet trimmed with orange strips and then I came down with thud!
Woman you are old enough to be his grandmother! ! Lord Help me!
