Things That Matter Poem by Brian Tinsley

I knew a man once
He told me that you should take in account every decision you make
because the smallest of things can affect the life of someone else
in such a big way

So now everytime,
Before I say or do anything
I think about what might happen
Like a chess move
Who it could affect
and what might happen because of it
I'm really scared of hurting other people
I couldn't live with that guilt on my shoulders

Consequently I don't say much
and I don't really do much either

It took me a year and half to work up the guts to write this poem
