They Come Poem by Corey Culler

They Come

They come to kill,
and what have we to blame,
we brought it upon ourselves,
for bringing them so much shame,
it's just cause and effect,
and they've come to collect

Hey now, don't be scared,
this wouldn't have happened if we had cared,
death comes swift, so be prepared,
just don't expect for your life to be spared

Listen as the wind blows, and hear what it says,
it's not something that we could've seen,
the lies, the trust, it's never free,
you would've known if you were me,
the hate, the lust, it's always there,
you should've known, life's not fair

Hey now, don't be scared,
this wouldn't have happened if we had cared,
death comes swift, so be prepared,
just don't expect for your life to be spared

Tell me what you see,
when the knife slides across your throat,
is it something beautiful, or something like me,
just tell me, while on the blood you choke,
that something still waits for me
