These Dead Are Buried Alive Poem by james tj24

These Dead Are Buried Alive

Beneath these bones lie their home.
They were the first to come and first to go.
Yet broken spirits stay behind
unable to leave their lives
They stay only to be buried by civilization's weight
Layer upon Layer they are slowly crushed
Only to be forgotten amidst the dust.
We've made our choice to stay in the ground
But now it's too late for our souls have but drowned.
The breath of our soul, foolish at first sight,
but if only they'd known, not to leave the light
that very first layer light cannot reach
but instead that light finds thy souls
and digs them up from the ground once cold.
