There Was Beauty Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

There Was Beauty

There was beauty
In the streets
But
It was
More
On the leaves
Awaking at the
Dawn
From night dews
Of
The night.

There was beauty in
The streets
But there was
More beauty
In the bough dripping
Slow
The night-dews of
The former night.

There was beauty in
The streets for Dawn
Had come and the earth
Had risen
But
More beauty was in
The eyes of
The blinding waves
From bay to the
Seas
To the Ocean immense
Yes,
More beauty,
Immense.
