There's A Sweet And Gentle Lady Poem by Catherine Casey

There's A Sweet And Gentle Lady

There's a sweet and gentle lady
With an angel by her side,
And he's guarding and protecting
As a shining mighty guide.

As a young child in the garden
With her angel by her side,
From all danger with affection
And her comfort when she cried.

Every fall and every danger
Lessened more while by her side,
Teaching, coaching with a whisper
Making safe her path and wide.

If you see her when she's smiling
You can tell he's by her side.
There's assurance and a beauty
which no mortal shade can hide.

There's compulsion in her presence
There's reflection in her eyes,
Of the wonders of creation
As a lesson to the wise.

In the mists of understanding
There's a guide who shows the way.
And she knows him - recognises
There's a harbour come what may.

There's connection in the ether
There's a light between the stars,
Of a friendship unsurpassing.
And this virtue could be ours.

Call him 'Michael the Archangel'.
He's the mighty hand of God.
What a creature, what a marvel
Wielding sword and lightning rod.

All the angels in procession
Wish this lady by their side,
But the honour goes to Michael
In his beaming light confide.

In the world of supernatural
As in life they're always there.
Ever watchful as companions
Ever faithful with their care.

With a numbered life of seasons
There's a yearning built within,
And unchecked is found corruption
As a seeming way to win.

But a purer plan of solace
That's innate within us all,
Is to hear the angel's promptings
And refute the siren's call.

A rejoicing, a renewing
A favour hardly sought
And a broken world of pain
Gives more reason to the thought.

That Heaven's full of angels
Wishing men would call them down,
To assist in navigation
And prepare them for a crown.

An example to the darkness
Of this world and to its flow.
Like the lady claim your angel
And the love that's lost will grow.
