There Is No Alone Poem by Brian Rihlmann

There Is No Alone

Rating: 5.0

they will throw sand in your face
laugh as you stagger blindly
pushing and shoving
when you raise a hand
to wipe your eyes

and later...

belittle and bully in subtle ways
like piranhas with needle teeth
nipping at soulflesh
snickering as you squirm

you learn to stay out
of the murky rivers
where they swim
only to be harassed
by their ghosts
as you sit in a room alone
or not alone

there is no alone
