There Are Only A Few Poem by Francis Duggan

There Are Only A Few

Of successful writers there are only a few
And this is not saying anything that is new
And so many from writing who never know of wealth and fame
Though rather good writers so few know of them by name
There are many writers in every town
Who from writing will never know of literary renown
Like most people in writers for success there is this inborn need
But in writing as in most things many do lose out for one to succeed
So many writers have their manuscripts rejected by publishers every day
For most writers writing is a hobby they work in other jobs for their pay
Everyone cannot be a winner seems true for to say
This is how it is life works in this way
So many good writers who will never make the literary grade
Though every writer is needed in the wordsmith trade.

Sad but true Francis look at Trump, dumb as a box of rocks. He could take the worst poems here and make millions on them. Great poem though goes to taste I suppose. James McLain 🎸
