Their National Flag Poem by Francis Duggan

Their National Flag

The allegiances of billions of people Worldwide are bound to their National flag
It is the flag their ancestors fought for and of it's importance to them they do brag
The flag that means so much to them and that they wave with pride
That so many young heroes fought for and died
Than to insult their National flag most would have better sense
For this would be seen as an unforgivable offense
On the flag poles in their front gardens it's colours in the breeze wave
In honour of the heroes who fought and died brave
They too would fight for the flag and for it would die
That patriots breed patriots is not a lie
It is just a flag the non patriotic may say
But the patriots do not see it in this way
Their National flag that they defend at all cost
That so many young lives for has been lost.
