The World Of Lost Dreams Poem by Brett Strotman

The World Of Lost Dreams

Rating: 0.5

-Dreams:
Sweet like cotton candy sweetly enriching one's sleep
with clouds of goals and hopes in life
as one sleeps and dreams deep at night
with dreams as sweet as love itself

yet painful as hurt itself
in knowing that even the sweetest dreams
can dissipate into smokes of incense
leaving nothing more than ashes
of one's own dead dream to be buried deep

in a dark chasm of lost dreams right before one's eyes
as the candle of sweet dreams is melted away
into the night dissipating incense
of spirits of dead dreams
haunting the souls of men

who are making their journey through the
chasm of lost dreams crying out in need
of help like one's darkest hour on Earth
lurking in the shadows of dreams
in sadly knowing that not all dreams can
last forever and stay as sweet as love itself

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem about what dreams mean to me and my views on dreams. I lused some 'similes' in my poem comparing how sweet dreams are like cotton candy because to me cotton candy is sweet just like sweet dreams and I wanted to be a little creative and for my imagination I always pictured dreams as clouds of cotton candy that were sweet when people slept at night, so using cotton candy as a simile when comparing dreams was from my imgaination when I thought or pictured dreams. I also used some personification a little in saying how the incense from the candle of sweet dreams that melted was the spirits of the dead sweet dreams floating from the chasm of lost dreams, haunting the souls of men because I wanted add a little darker mood to the poem like having the tone of the poem be like a death on a dark gloomy grayish day and I wanted to describe in details how the spirits of the dead dreams were journeying through a deep dark chasm where the spirits of dead dreams float and haunt. I was also a little creative using personification and a little imagery when I said 'the ashes of one's own dead dream' using it in a sense of how the dream is dead and it's cremated like a real human body and it's spirit is buried in this deep dark chasm of 'lost dreams' where dead dreams go after they die and their spirits lurk and haunt in this lost world for dead dreams. I used the phrase 'The World of Lost Dreams' to be creative in a sense that when dreams die their 'spirits' go to a place or world where they're lost forever and they haunt and the place is like a deep dark chasm like 'Hell' in a way where it's deep and it's dark. 'The World of Lost Dreams' is kind of similar to 'The Underworld' where Greek God 'Hades' rules only I came up with the name myself for where dead dreams go after they die. This poem is kind of inspirational because it talks about how dreams are sweet and how not all dreams can last forever and where dreams that we have which are sweet that we rememebr forever dissipate like incense from a candle into another world and that not all of our dreams that we remember like the kind that maybe were sweet or special to you can last forever in our souls because all dreams at one point in our lives dissipate forever and we never get them back. So the I guess the theme of my poem would be not all dreams can last forever and that dreams go their seperate ways when we wake up each day. So enjoy the sweet dreams you have a night while they last because they won't last forever. So the main theme of my poem is 'Enjoy dreams while they last, because they won't last forever'. Anyways, I hope you like my poem I did a lot of ediiting and switching and replacing words to make my poem sound good and you know poetic from the heart so A- for my poem. Enjoy.
