The World Keeps On Ending And Ending Poem by Heidi K. Haskell

The World Keeps On Ending And Ending

'Stop moaning, stop crying, ' they tell you.
'The world is not ending - be strong.'
But the world keeps on ending and ending,
And somehow still keeps going on.
'You're overreacting, ' they mention,
'There is nothing that last for always.'
Still the world keeps on ending and ending,
Yet the sun still comes up everyday.
They forget when their hearts too were broken,
That, in fact, that is what it's there for -
When the world keeps on ending and ending,
It's your heart that drags you back for more.
When your Universe just gets upended,
And it buries all your dreams and hope,
And the world keeps on ending and ending,
You think when you grow up, you can cope.
Well, here as a grownup, I'll tell you -
You get older, your life's still a mess.
And the world keeps on ending and ending,
But beginning still hurts a bit less.
So cry all the cries that you have to.
Nurse your wounds. But in case you forgot -
The world's beginning and beginning...
Life goes on, if you like it or not.
