The World Can Go On Poem by Ananta Madhavan

The World Can Go On

Professor or President,
Potentate or Personage,
Autocrat or Bureaucrat,
Look at TV, read the papers,
Consult the sages and the savants,

Find out in how many ways
The world can go on without you.
When did you last remember
You were expendable?

'Sic transit gloria mundi'.

- - - - - - -

The last line is a quotation of a Latin saying,
'so passes worldly glory', used in papal liturgy.
