The Waves Are Breaking Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

The Waves Are Breaking

Rating: 5.0

The waves are breaking on the shore
The stormy seas a savage roar,
Like thunder in the clouds they roam
Crashing curving crowned with foam,
The wind is fierce and unrelenting
And shears the waves its anger venting,
The air is wet with saline rain
Which falls onto the shingle plain.

The tide is high and growing higher
Clouds like with seas on fire,
And only time will douse this flame
The savage beast it soon will tame,
A ray of light breaks through the slate
And shines upon the sea of hate,
Which now becomes a shade of green
And sparkles with a silver sheen.

Sun and spray a rainbow forming
Morning chill is slowly warming,
The sea from green to blue is ranging
Never still and always changing,
The crashing waves are fading fast
For now the storm is moving past,
And so the clouds begin to rise
And drift across the calming skies.

The tide begins its slow retreat
And sinking slowly in defeat,
A line of weed now stains the beach
That marks the point the sea did reach,
The mighty wind now blown away
The sky is blue no longer grey,
And waves now gently lap the shore
The raging tempest is no more.
