The Walls Are Red Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Walls Are Red

The walls are red
Tonight
The walls of the internal
Yard
They burn red tonight
And up the stairs
Are rolling up the fumes
Step after step
Up
Up
Up
And sighing whispers slow
And desperation cries
Through insect language low
And
Windows sudden light
Not just in old midnight
But come and go
But come and go:
Restless
Restless
Restless
For
And
The walls are red
Tonight
The walls of the internal
Yard
They burn red tonight
The walls are red tonight
Red
Red
Red and burning bright.
The walls light red tonight.
