The Virgin Sturgeon Poem by Brian Taylor

The Virgin Sturgeon

THE VIRGIN STURGEON
of French descent
has made the ascent
of Ben Neverist
and looks down from the clouds
at the crowds
marching to the banner
of their newfound Queen of Scots.

Meanwhile
in a disused dungeon
in St Andrews
the spirit of John Knox
of Scottish descent
is heard intoning,

“Monstrous Regimen of Women! ”
