The Vampyre Poem by J.M. Española

The Vampyre

I’m tired of hiding in the shadows,
Where there stay the vultures and ravens and crows
But can it be that there in the shadows,
Is where my only happiness in this world grows?

Sunlight will hurt me, that I know for sure
Furthering damage in my oh-so-bright future
Am I risking myself? Indeed I may be.
But there’s none in this word who can make me happy

More than the stars that twinkle in the sky
More than the thrill I get when I fly
More than a songs and melodies combined,
Can contrast the feeling of our hands entwined.

Sometimes I feel guilty, at times I feel empty
But all of these vanish when you are with me.
Maybe someday, I will get to see,
the sun on your face-oh that would be heavenly!

But wait, no, the time’s not yet right,
We must wait till my clock strikes exactly at midnight,
So here in my shadows, I’ll sit, I’ll mope,
Cause being with you forever’s my undying hope...
