The Valued Bricklayer Poem by Joyce Hemsley

The Valued Bricklayer

Working
On the building
Calm, he falters never
Coping in all kinds of weather.
Qualified is he, trained to top degree
Very skilled, and very clever.
He is not for shirking
Smiling as he's
Working.

Working
In the morning
With his spirit level
Facing-bricks laid to perfection
Suit of red, white helmet for his head.
With those girls he is not flirting
He heeds a warning:
Not while he is
Working.
