The Unknown Poem by John Knowles

The Unknown

Shingling sand,
Footsteps on the shore,
Children playing,
Swathes of sea salt drifting.

Waves swirling,
Breaking,
Rushing,
Foaming.

Clear blue water;
Tide turns
In-out, in-out

Swimming effortless; floating in
Shimmering boundless light;
Head spinning below the surface;
Unknown, obscure
In the sea.

Searching for
Torn shapeless figures
Mirroring in the distance,
And I, float-drowning
In wishfulness,
Await love’s return.

A brilliant poem of tumultuous feelings mirrored by the beach scene. Thanks for sharing, John
