The Universe

The universe seems to be
A puzzle I must assemble
A million pieces, disordered and crumbled
And two of them - you and me

The universe is my task
A magic cube in my hands
It's strange, but to play the game to the end
I have to destroy my past

The universe is a sheet
A perfectly empty space
Imagine the future, imagine the place
Somewhere we could ever meet

Don't care about my time
Believe, I would spend it all
To put it together, to reach for your soul
To picture the world of mine

Kind of a Mega level thinking, focusing poet's own heart. In the whole Universe, she feels, there is nohing more important than her heart. Exquisitely penned. I like it. (Report) Reply

What I took from this is it's a nice way of saying you are my world in a never ending imagination(universe) that is constantly in a state of change and that it doesn't matter how long it takes (time being relative) that you will dedicate every second of life into making your love work no matter what changes may come that you will grow and evolve in every way as the world does the same around you.

I also like the idea of the magic cube. Death is but a door and chaos a ladder where destruction brings about creation. Nicely done and congrats on P.o.t.d. (Report) Reply

Howsoever small we human beings might appear vis-a-vis this vast universe, our role will remain ever important when we make bridges between man and man to strengthen our social fabric. Thanks for a very impressive poem. (Report) Reply

This poem connects the very largest realm - the Universe - with what must therefore be the smallest - the world of the individual. And they fit together in the most wonderful, surprising ways. By reducing the universe to a puzle of pieces, you also bring it down to the level of just two pieces, two people. It's a breathtaking sleight of hand with scale and all done in one stanza. The speaker says THE UNIVERSE IS MY TASK but it's really this radically reduced universe of her life which is the issue. She is willing to sacrifice so much for the future she envisions - her past, her time. I don't know why she must sacrifice these things? But what she gets is, I'm guessing here, a common ground with the man she loves. The key line for me is TO PUT IT TOGETHER, TO REACH FOR YOUR SOUL, because it suggests as the puzzle of the Universe is put back together, there is
a soul union that is fulfilled. (Report) Reply

Daniel, thank you very much for reading and for your reply!
    I think you've hit it)
Concerning your question, I need to sacrifice my past because I should revise my prior views each time I try to reach a new level of understanding just as I destroy completed sides of a magic cube to assemble its next layer. You just can't do it without changing previous layers. And time is always to be spent to gain what you need.
