On the first day of Christmas
my true love gave to me
a loving nicker hello.

On the second day of Christmas
my true love gave to me
2 friendly neighs
and a loving nicker hello.

my true love gave to me
3 feisty snorts
2 friendly neighs
and a loving nicker hello.

my true love gave to me
4 hooves a-prancing

Laughing here! ! I swear that you took this poem for a ride and enjoyed it, even the chasing of coyotes and the jumping of fences! That's because you have an adventuresome spirit and a joy in life that shows in your poetry and your comments. Thank you for your lovely comment and all those 10's! ! ! !

It is very wonderful composition in a new style of writing having suspense. Your 'true love' was a horse finally it is known. Let's see what happens finally. Beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing.

This was the most fun to write! ! ! I had the famous song to give me a format and all my years of loving horses to give me a smile in my heart as I wrote this!

Worth every day to the lead up to Christmas day. What a treat for the heart when your horse calls out to you approaching, being so glad to see you. Knowing that he /she can expect kindness, a calm voice and a scratch in that favorite spot.

Are you a horse lover as well as a cat lover? Or have an affinity for all animals? You do know that heart-warming nicker, don't you? - -the one a great big animal gives a little human. It's a huge WoW moment for me everytime!

Thank you, Bharati! I had an absolute ball writing this and trying to stick to the rhythm of that Christmas standard! I have thousands of good memories about all the horses I met, even the less than pleasant horses. ;)
