The Truth About Love Poem by Steffi Webster

The Truth About Love

Principles forged in the knowledge of youth,
Broken,
Lie on their foundation.
A tie between despair and elation
Caused by one pair of new eyes.
Blue.
Another widen in surprise then hurt,
Betrayal. Both blue.
One true and one a lie.
Tears form and blur your gaze to cry
And screw decision.
New danger of romance or
Stay with certainty, dependable joy of old.
Coward? Or bold?
Either heart could walk
Or leave my soul to weep
But here we grieve for every choice,
The tender touch, the love, the poetry floating on one flowing voice.
Devil seductor sweeping silently the sweet
Nothings to treat the loyalty and tempt the good.
Love is not the end of the story separate from all.
Its complex weave in its glory it’s hidden uncertain.
Happiness must prevail.
But one will fail.
