The Truth Poem by chantel weston

The Truth

a ring
to testify to a promise
an ingraving to testify to who
and a dress to say it happened

but when you look
they mean nothing
they are nothing
they could have been given to any girl
to any one
they could have said those words to any one

but you
refuse to think that is the way it is
you must hold firm to the thought that they
could only say i love you if they really
truely did.

but im here
to tell you that the truth is NEVER
what you want it to be
its the last thing that you want to think or to hear
but i have to tell you
i will not lie its not pretty
its nothing that any one should have to figure out by them seves
or the hard way but people do
the truth is the uglyest thing.
