The Time Of Vanity Poem by Shaojun Li

The Time Of Vanity

Nihilists in the world are rioting, gesturing
From London to New York, from Europe to the Americas
The new Spring of Prague was launched at the heart of capitalism
Evolved into cell phone messages, Twitter and Weibo uprisings
No slogans, no targets and no organization
Perform repeatedly the Semitic roar
Only gas bottles, masks, and flesh
Runaway families run on all streets in the city
A libido revolution of idle youth
Lurking with the impulse to rebel and the anger of being deprived

I, an Oriental on a distant island
Exhausted by the battle and feeling desperate and despair
Turn to embrace the landscape, the moon and my hometown
But I still have faint concerns in the new Great Leap Forward
Will the green mountain be relocated, will the moon palace be demolished someday
And everyone's hometown seems to be going through transformation
