The Sweetest Crumbs Poem by David Watt

The Sweetest Crumbs

A mountain never knows if day or night
Nor ponders over questions wrong or right,
And so it is with love when most intense
Enrapturing and capturing the heart;
Timeless, blameless, making greatest sense
To lovers fate determines live apart.

And so when opportunity arises
We make the most of fortunate surprises,
Riding wild emotions to the top,
Living for the moment, loving free;
Wishing it were possible to stop
Where feelings live and inhibitions flee.

Visible within the cast of eyes,
Not for us the pretense of disguise,
Nor the doubt which other hearts may feel
Questioning if cares are truly meant;
Ours is love most tangible and real
Consuming, overpowering, heaven sent.

And like the fallen crumbs of sweetest cakes
We savor all which passion gladly bakes,
Relishing each texture, perfume, taste,
Made richer by infrequency and wait;
Letting not one morsel go to waste
Lest the next confection offer late.
