The Sunset Of His Years Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Sunset Of His Years

This precious little child
Many years ago
A father smiles in pride
He loves that baby so

Isn’t it amazing
How life slowly begins
And how time flies by so fast
Heads toward the end?

But in between those years
A child becomes a man
Raises a wonderful family
To grow on his red dirt land

Another generation
Behind him then will grow
He has raised his family well
The time came to let them go

And so then he’s in
The sunset of his years
Many amazing sunsets
Through happiness and tears

He takes the time to treasure
The sunrise when the day begins
And enjoys each hour till sunset
Through the camera’s lens!
