The Sunflower Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

The Sunflower

Rating: 5.0

I am a sunflower besotted to the distant sun
I follow him though unfathomable distance, from horizon to horizon,
My day begins with his warm and loving thoughts
And ends only at night when I am in sleep's invisible web caught.

Dear, you have thrown at me a warm and pointed dart
That has further inflamed my long pining heart
I know, this life shall never date me with a chance
And my days shall end spellbound under your trance.

Yet I am happy that I have you always in my sight
And your warmth and light that makes my day full and bright,
Though far-far away you are so ensconced in my heart
That nothing on this earth or the sky can tear you from me apart.
