The Snow Has Gone Poem by Paul Reed

The Snow Has Gone

The snow has gone
Washed away by the rain
If I wait forever
It might never come again;

But it was there yesterday
In high excitement, we played
We rolled the snow into a ball
And a jolly snowman was made;

We dressed him in old hat and scarf
Buttons were made from stones
Twigs made his spindly arms
With slender wooden bones;

And all night he stood there
Staring through his coaly eyes
The ground remained frozen
Until the sun began to rise;

His snowy body started to melt
And just as we had feared
When we looked out the window
He had disappeared.
