The Smile Of The Adversary Poem by Quame Boatmann

The Smile Of The Adversary

As bright as the morning star
The smile of the adversary
With the teeth of a twinkling star
Like no blood beneath, ne’er scary

Behind the smile of the adversary
Lurks a darkly dark darkness
A hidden peril in the head’s diary
Woven with malice and evilness

And still the eyes laugh
The seductive ruse you believe
Till you fathom-though tough
Mara, the name you’ll receive

Behind the smile is the waft of rotten carcass
Beware! trust not even the looking glass
