The Silent. Poem by Matthew Bennett

The Silent.

Rating: 5.0

Silence is a mask which many urge to take off,
the lack of sound pierces the listener as they
create their wild excuses to blame your silence.

'name doesn't like me, name is rude.'

Don't think i don't want to burst in an explosion of
well articulated thoughts and jokes met with accord,
silence is a mask which i wish i could take off,
it is the weight crushing my chest by the,
society which says i cant,
express myself in any which way because;

My expression would surely be met with a stinging oppression,
but they cant see the silence of my identity,
my depression will be treated with cautious digression,
so that they cant see these knives dug deep in me.

My silence is not a lack of opinion,
it is quite the opposite.

My silence is a bottle storing my opinion,
as you can tell im far from confident.

The bottle which traps my emotion,
the buffer so they cant tell that im broken.

Next time you see a human unspoken,
just know they have lost all sense of hope, and
your company could be their last way to cope, and
i just hope that you'll understand.

An insightful piece of poetry depicting the depressive nature of bottled-up emotions, well articulated and nice penned in poetic diction from the heart. Lovely poem written with conviction. Thanks for sharing Matthew. Please read my poem COLOSSAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE.
