The Silent Scream Poem by Okoye Stan. Ifeanyichukwu

The Silent Scream

Rating: 1.0

They are screaming,
But no one seems to hear them.
They are crying,
But no succour came to their aid.
Their screams are silent
Because they are tender and innocent.
Their cries are unheard
Because they are abandoned.
They are calling on you!
To know that they have their dignity
They have their rights.
The right to live and be loved.
They have their right to exist
But they are constantly killed.

They always wonder what they did,
What blackmails their innocence?
What made them to deserve such
Guilt from the womb?
Still, they are innocent.
Their mothers hated them that
They pay huge sum to kill them.
The society protests for their inexistence.
The rulers shun their plea and
Make sure that they do not exist.
They continuously cry:
‘What have we done to
Merit these unjust treatments’
But their cries are constantly neglected.

This is a cry for help
The cry of the aborted and abandoned children.
The screams of the innocents.
If we mortals do not hear and placate them,
Surely, God will hear them.
Their creator will avenge them.
The cry of the innocent pierces the heavens.
It is always sharp and distinct.
O yes, God will surely come to their succour.
Brethren, can we just listen
To this silent scream?
Let us save these innocent blood
Because they are our kind
They are our Brethren.
