The Show Poem by Gavin Monroe

The Show

we all know how it's the actions that counts
but not to me
in reality it's not about what comes out of the mouth
it's about the feelings behind the shouts
the show doesn't stop when the curtain falls
it's not about the applause
it's about the feeling inside
as you read your lines
you may come to find
the audience never changes
just collections of people waiting for what you have to say
but that's not why they came
they've been waiting
wanting to see feelings
the ones you've been hiding
under ten feet of dirt
you decide to let it all hang out
then you find
amidst the lines
you've frozen time
the audience is in awe
but it's nothing compared to how you feel
because you found out
it feels good to get real
