The Shocking Truth Poem by Beggar Boy

The Shocking Truth

Are we so very different
From the ones we accuse?
From the killer to the bad parent
Does their pain us ammuse?
Do we rape their conscience
So as to numb ours?
Superior must be the tears we cry
in the midnight hours.

Are their sins more black
Than the ones we committ?
Can't they be brought back
And their sins God omit?
Is Redemption sold
To the highest bidder?
What makes us so cold?
Why are we so bitter?

In their raging condemnation,
I say to the Pharisee:
It's the lost who find salvation,
And the blind who Redemption see!
