The Shade Poem by Faisal Al Ajmi

The Shade

I once asked a black shade
In a realm where every soul laid
If it could lend me the power to fade
Just as the great sun can fade
I said I wouldn't be afraid
Only show me and we can trade
I told it not to be afraid
For i only need it's aid
By it that is a great role to be played
I told the shade that it will be paid
In a currency made of jade
It told me a sacrifice must be made
I said as to defy that isn't a trade
It said that the power to fade
Costs more than jade
And more than jade should be paid
Or i will never have its aid
I then told the shade to fade
For this isn't a game to be played
For the shade had raided my parade
